THE BRIEF
Our clients were self-building a stunning new oak framed home in West Hallam and approached us to design, supply and install their new kitchen. They wanted a classic feel, but they very much wanted a design suitable for modern family living. They immediately loved the Shaker range, painted in Partridge Grey, combined with a light veined quartz worktop, and it was exactly the look they had in mind.
As keen cooks appliances were key to the design
We included a tall ‘bank’ within a recess, incorporating a single oven, combination mw, integrated larder fridge and freezer, large open bottle rack and tandem larder. On the opposite side a streamlined venting induction hob eliminated any need for a visible extractor. The Quartz worktops complemented the cabinetry and worked well with the stunning oak frame, and they are the perfect choice for ease of maintenance and family life.
DESIGNER'S TIPS
As this is a long room it was important to create a consistent theme throughout, to unify the space and enhance its social and inviting ambience. We explored a few different layout options, but the long space better suited a peninsular design rather than an island. Another key factor achieved in this design was achieving symmetry and balance by centralising both the hob and farmhouse sink positions between the windows in this dual aspect build.
